IAI Partners with U.S. Firm on New Border Defense Aircraft

In today’s Israel Update, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced a partnership with a major U.S. defense contractor to co-develop a new light aircraft designed for border defense and surveillance.
The collaboration aims to enhance Israel’s ability to monitor its borders and respond swiftly to emerging threats using advanced reconnaissance systems.
According to defense officials, the new aircraft will integrate AI-based flight control systems, lightweight materials, and real-time communication tools that can be operated remotely or by a single pilot.
A joint statement released Friday highlighted the goal of “strengthening bilateral defense innovation” between the two allies.
Jodie Cohen Visits Famed Jewish Deli
Meanwhile, Israel Correspondent Jodie Cohen took viewers inside one of Israel’s most beloved delis, known for its authentic Jewish comfort food and cultural charm.
From handmade knishes to spiced pastrami, Cohen explored how local chefs are reviving traditional Jewish flavors while giving them a modern twist.
“Every bite tells a story — a story of heritage, resilience, and home,” Cohen said during her visit.
The segment offered a refreshing cultural contrast to the day’s defense headlines, highlighting how food and tradition remain powerful symbols of unity in Israeli life.
Strengthening Bonds Between Innovation and Identity
Together, these two stories reflect the dual nature of modern Israel — a nation advancing cutting-edge defense technology while celebrating its rich cultural roots.
As partnerships expand and traditions endure, Israel continues to balance security and soul, innovation and identity.
