A Mississippi monkey escape took a tragic turn early Sunday when a homeowner shot and killed one of the monkeys that fled after a truck overturned on a state highway last week.
According to authorities, the woman said she acted out of fear for her children’s safety after spotting the monkey near her home in a rural area. The animal reportedly approached her backyard before the fatal shooting occurred.
